Some users may experience problems running My Daily Bread on Windows 10 devices. Although the app was designed for Windows 8.1 and is therefore fully compatible with both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, there is understandably a possibility for issues running in either environment.
To help with troubleshooting please perform the following checks first (in this order!) before reporting an issue:
1. Windows Update: Make sure your Windows is fully updated by going to Settings->Update and Security and checking for and installing any updates. You may have to restart your machine after installing any updates. After installing check for updates again, as many times some updates will appear after others have been installed. Once you can run a check for updates and it returns no new updates twice in a row, you know you're fully updated. Then try running My Daily Bread again.
2. Windows Firewall: Many times Windows Firewall will inadvertently block apps from accessing the internet, especially following a security update. You may need to go to your Windows Search and type in "firewall" and click on "Allow an app through Windows firewall". Click Change settings. You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice. Select the check box next to the app you want to allow, select the network types you want to allow communication on, and then click OK. Then try running My Daily Bread again.
3. Uninstall/Reinstall the app: Click on the Start icon in the bottom left corner, click App Apps and scroll to find My Daily Bread, then right-click on it and choose Uninstall. If prompted, say yes to deleting the files. Install the app from the store, following the on-screen prompts and try running My Daily Bread again.
4. Run the Windows App Troubleshooter: If you continue experiencing problems with an app, try running the Apps troubleshooter. This tool can automatically identify and fix some problems with apps and the Store. It's only available in English, but will work on PCs running any language. Then try running My Daily Bread again.
5. Modify permissions: Another possible issue is permission-related. Hold down the Windows key on your keyboard and press E to open Windows Explorer. Right-click on your C drive and choose Properties. Click on the Security tab and click the Edit Permissions button, then click Add. Type in "ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES" (without quotes) and click OK. Next, make sure the Full Control box is checked and click OK, then click OK at the remaining windows to close them out and save your settings. Then try running My Daily Bread again.
6. Clear and Reset Windows Store Cache: Open a command prompt as administrator (Windows Search and type cmd, then right-click on Command and choose Run as Administrator). Once at the command prompt type wsreset and hit Enter. It will the take you back to Windows Store. Now try to install or update the apps or download fresh apps and see if it’s working like it should.
7. Perform Clean Uninstall using PowerShell: This is a more advanced technique, so please ensure you've tried everything else above first. First, create a System Restore point before proceeding. Ensure you "allow active scripting" on your machine. Open Powershell as an administrator. To do so, while on the start screen, type powershell, and on the result, right click and select Run as administrator. Type Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted and hit Enter. Type Y again as confirmation and hit Enter again. This will change the Execution Policy. Now, download this script from Microsoft and extract the contents of the zipped file. Open RemoveWindowsStoreApp with a Notepad. Scroll down to the end of the script file, and then add the command that you want to run – in this case Remove-OSCAppxPackage. Save the script. Next, run the script using PowerShell. Check the path. Change the directory if need be, Type cd C:\ and hit Enter. Then place the RemoveWindowsStoreApp on your C drive if need be. When you run the script, it will first list all the installed apps along with the app IDs. You will be asked Which Apps do you want to remove. Enter the ID or IDs and hit Enter. A Clean Uninstall will be performed and the app will be completely removed from your system. Now restart the computer and reinstall the app. The app should hopefully work and not crash now. Once your work is done, remember to change back the PowerShell Execution policy to Restricted using: Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Restricted. Try running My Daily Bread again.
8. Create a post or send an email: If you have tried each of the above steps and your problem persists, you can either create a post here or send an email to eric@oszakiewski.net and we'll do our best to help. Please provide your machine make/model, CPU, RAM and HD information.
